Trying to catch up

This is the same spot we had our tomatoes in, after they were done we enlarged the area and added more dirt, mixed in some cow dung and planted our winter crop of turnips. We had to add the chicken wire to keep the cats out of what they thought was their new found "giant litter box". The area where you see a circle is where Sweetie, our Manx dug. It won't be long and we will have a mess of greens.
So besides working in the yard I tried mosaic, made two trays so far, all that is left to do is to seal the grout.

This is the first one, can you see the teapot? The other one is the last picture.

This started out with me just fooling around to see if I could draw on this material....then came the idea to make the wall hanging. The next picture is a closer shot.

Can you see the kitty face button on top of the feathers? If I do any more of these I think I will paint the subject. The nest is covered with the little pieces of grape vine. I wasn't to sure about adding that but I like the dimension that it adds.

And last is the blue tray, I am finding that breaking the glass is not as easy as it looks. The stained glass pieces came from a box of glass scrap that I bought while we were on vacation in Illinois. Our son-in-law is a self taught artist that has just gotten into the art of stained glass, he has made six windows already, I am thinking about doing a post with them if he is ok with it.

Sorry it has been so long since I posted last and since I missed a few weeks of "teacup Tuesday" I am not sure if I will pick that back up yet.

I hope you are enjoying fall where ever you are. I think it FINALLY got here.
This is the poem I came up with at first but it was just to many words....
When the leaves begin to fall
and God's earth prepares to rest,
I pray you be blessed, one and all.
and there will be peace in your nest.
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.

Teacup Tuesday # 11 ( I think)

Good morning to all of you teacup lovers. I have been away for several weeks and have really fallen behind on looking at your sites, I will try to catch up today. Of course I want to thank Martha and Terri for hosting "Teacup Tuesday" , you can find their blogs by clicking on the teacup on my sidebar. All of my pictures posted backwards so instead of fighting the computer this morning I am going to go with it....this cup made by Ridgway of England is called Colclough. It has a very faint powder blue haze and the tiny little flowers are blue and a shade of orange. I bought it because the price was right. Found it in a thrift store in Illinois while staying with our daughter Laura.

I didn't have time to do any special photo shoots, so you are seeing things right where they sit.

This is a demi cup and a small two cup teapot. I think I might have shown this before.
********************************************************************
And last my favorite.....this is the only cup I have that has both of my favorite flowers on it together, roses and pansies.

When we got home I had to go stock up on groceries so that meant I could go by the Goodwill. This dear cup that says Faith on it was my treasure for the day, a whole $4. When I came home I did some research and found out it is from a set by Sandy Clough. There are three other cups, all different, one says Hope, one Joy, and the last one Love. There is a teapot and a sugar and creamer set. These are all reasonably priced. This one seemed extra special for me as I had asked God for a word to meditate on that week and He had given me "FAITH".
Most of us know the scripture in Hebrews 11:1 that says Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
While studying this week I came across these words from a Jewish web site.
It said...."Stand firm in FAITH believing that what Jesus said is true, although in the meantime you do not understand what God is doing. He has bigger issues at stake than the particular things you are asking of Him right now."
So in closing let me remind you that the Word says, Without FAITH it is impossible to please God........so how do we get more faith?
Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
My prayer is that we all seek to increase our FAITH.

More of our yard

This is honey taking these big pieces of the tree he cut down to the other part of the yard so a friend can pick them up. He will split them and sell them for firewood. I meant to take a picture of the tree before he cut it down, but I got busy and forgot. Do you see the circle of light, that is my shadow in it. This whole area was overgrown brush, so now we have claimed some more space, not sure what we will do with it yet.
Just a few more photos from the yard. This is the vine that I spoke of, the one I trained to go up a tee pee type trellis I made from some bamboo poles. It is called, trumpet Creeper, or Campsis radicans. It is a very invasive plant and will go up trees and buildings and anything that stays in one spot long enough. Next is a close up of the flower .

Now you can see why I like this so much.

This is called beautyberry, or Callicarpa americana. We have these growing all over our yard. Some of our bushes are quite large. These are great in flower arrangements. I think it is so strange how the leaf grows out of the middle of the purple clumps.
We planted turnips today, this is our first time to try this. We built a special bed for them. When they come up I will take a picture.
I want to leave you with a thought for the day.
Wish I could say it was mine, however it was Benjamin Franklin that said,
"Be sober and temperate, and you will be healthy. Be in general, virtuous, and you will be happy."
and a word from the KJ, BE STRONG IN THE LORD AND IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT. Eph. 6:10
Hope you all have a great week end.

Here comes the sun

This is a site we were not able to see for the first six years that we lived here. This is part of our woods out front, between us and the road. Last year they cut down the pine forest that was across the street from us. Those trees always blocked the sun rise.
This is just another angle, down a little farther.
From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, the name of the Lord is to be praised.

And what kind of flower is this??
I had some little yellow daisies in this terracotta dish but when the heat finally got to them I put the dish under the table so it would not fill up with rain water. Buddy thinks it is a good place to take a nap, but for him, any place to nap is ok.

We had a great time in Illinois, just to short. It is fun to get away but as they say,
"THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME"
It has still been real hot here in northern Florida and I have NO INTEREST in crafting.
Seem to be in a summer slump, most of my energy gets spent out in the yard, and in this heat believe me I wilt pretty fast. I have some pictures I took of things in the yard I will probably post next time, till then, BE BLESSED.
