Birthday girls

This is our son-in-law Curt cooking the main dish at his daughters 10th birthday party at the beach, in the Keys. Lots of people, lots of food and lots of kids.
This is mom, our daughter in front of all the wind surfers we shared the beach with. What a site when they all get up there at the same time.

This is our granddaughter at the pool which was at the condo where we stayed, right on the beach. It doesn't get much better than this.

This is her again, before she opened her gifts. The older you get the less gifts you get......I guess this is because the items they all seem to want cost so much. $$$$$$$$$$$$

And this is a composition I put together for our #1 daughter, Laura. That is her at 6 months and her on the beach in Florida when they were here last spring but the actual beach picture with the birds is from something else.
So there you have it and even though it is late HAPPY BIRTHDAY girls.

We had some very sad times added to our trip to the Keys. We lost our grand daughters other grandfather.....her fathers dad. He passed one week before her 10th birthday. He left a wife and four children, and several grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
Larry, you will be missed.

How our fall yard grows.

This is called a Gloriosa Lily, easy to see why. It has a glorious bloom, reminds me of fireworks. The Boston fern that it is sitting in is all over our yard now, it took me about six years and one large plant to make it happen. I love ferns and wish that our woods were full of them, I'm working on it.

They are back ! Don't you just love flowers that come back each year, I do. I took a close up picture so you could see what a pretty flower this is. Can you believe how tall they get? A friend at church gave me a few little starts about five years ago, she called them a Texas daisy????

This beauty is my Rose of Sharon or some people call it the Confederate Rose. When the blossom opens it is white and as the day goes on it turns dark pink. I caught this one in the middle of it's transformation.

This is an area at the end of our foot path by the driveway. The tree is a palm and the glass floats are some of our nautical treasures we brought up from the Keys when we moved.

And here you have our turnip patch which I showed you a few posts back, just wanted you to see how they are growing. Doing just fine now that the cats can not get in there.

BUT GROW IN GRACE, AND IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST. TO HIM BE GLORY BOTH NOW AND FOREVER. AMEN. 2PETER 3:18

Just Do It !

As I said I would do .....I want to share with you the latest of many talents my son-in-law has. When you take a stained glass class they tell you to start on a small project and work your way into bigger things. So he made a wind chime or two and then, you guessed it, WINDOWS ! These two I believe are # 4 and 5. I lost the picture of the one he hung in his garage which was #1.
This is one of a pair, these would be #2 and 3. He made them to hang in the dinning room. The blue ones are for the kitchen. Then he made one for the kitchen door to match the ones over the sink. The picture I had of it was to blurry to use.

Well beware who you tell what you are doing. As we all know (they will want one)....
A fellow worker ask if he could make a sign for his wife's beauty shop. So a few days later this is what he turned out.

So meet the artist, his name is Tom and this is his garage, you heard me right, I said GARAGE, is he a neat guy or what?
So now I am asking him all kinds of questions since all I have done so far is make a design and cut out a few pieces of glass. In my original design I wanted to do a 3" area with the scrap pieces
like the one window you see in the second picture above......not going to happen, to much work.
After all isn't our crafts suppose to be FUN?

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Crafting Wears Me Out

What is all the fuss about? Oh no not ANOTHER new craft.....is there no end to it? Well I am glad I am a cat and all I have to worry about is if there is food in my bowl and is anybody going to brush me today.
This is "Cat" doing what she does best.....
Well what a fun day I had yesterday but I did not even think about needing my camera, big mistake. I think I will call and see if I could stop back by and take a few pictures. I found a place that makes and repairs stained glass church windows. This man is 75 years young and has been doing this all of his life. He gets orders even from other countries. Normally no one gets to tour his shop but yesterday I did. Then he sent me on my way to Gainesville with an address of a place that would sell me what I needed. So can you look at my messy area and tell what I am going to try next? Today will be spent in cleaning up so I will have a place to work.
Back in the 80"s I took some classes, made a few pieces, then went to work full time and never had the time to do any more with it.

This is my own design, and I'm not sure how close I will stick to it but it is a starting place. The outer rim will be red, the pinks and yellows will be marbled the patch work area will be all different greens, with a lot of olive color. So I'll let you know how this goes later.

Last, this is a picture of my grandmother that was just given to me recently. Have you ever broken a cup and did not want to throw away the saucer? Well here you go. Laminate your photo and glue it in, adhere a ribbon to the back to hang, or use a plate hanger and you have a keepsake of a loved one.
